VMware TestDrive

I recently received an e-mail as part of my VMware User Group Advantage (VMUG) membership informing me about a new VMware service named ‘TestDrive’.

I will provide information below taken from the e-mail invitation and from the website itself – https://portal.vmtestdrive.com/

TestDrive provides VMware customers, partners, employees, and VMUG Advantage members the opportunity to explore VMware’s full suite of products including Workspace ONE, Workspace ONE UEM (formerly VMware AirWatch), Horizon, vSAN and Pivotal Container Service. Our environments are fully configured and integrated allowing you to use and experience the products as a customer would in their own deployment.

Introducing TestDrive to VMUG Advantage!

TestDrive provides VMUG Advantage members an exclusive opportunity to explore VMware’s products including Workspace ONE, Workspace ONE UEM (formerly VMware AirWatch), Horizon, vSAN, and Pivotal Container Service.

TestDrive offers users two experiences:

  • Ready to Use Experiences – Get instant access to our fully configured and integrated environments allowing you to use and experience the products as a customer would in their own deployment. We’ve set up the products alongside partner solutions so you can experience the entire ecosystem including Office 365, Salesforce, and more
  • Sandbox Experiences – Get access to your own personal SaaS instance of VMware’s products (currently offered for Workspace ONE UEM, Identity Manager, and AirWatch Express), so you can set up, test, and explore your own configurations

Here we can see examples of courses available –

VMware TestDrive - Ready to Use Experiences and Sandbox Experiences
VMware TestDrive - Modernize Data Centers

At this time the portal is available to the following users –

  • VMware Employees
  • Customers and Prospects
  • VMware Partners
  • VMUG Advantage Members

For those of us who do not fall into the first 3 categories this is just another reason to join VMUG Advantage and benefit from additional cool stuff. I need time to try things out and get familiar but I think this is going to be a cool way of playing with VMware products and solutions. Check out the links and details above and if you haven’t already signed up for VMUG Advantage then consider it, try for a year and if you like you can renew again.
